Absolut Creative Commune

Our work for Pardafash’s installation in Absolut Creative Commune 2023 was a hopeful daydream about futures that we’d like to visit. Curated by ‘Elsewhere in India’, the exhibition and seminar looked at the theme of Indo-futurism through different lenses. 

Through a series of animated vignettes, we explored ideas of leisure in an India that is truly safe and nurturing for all its inhabitants. A queer borderless world was the setting for our protagonists - who are caught in snapshots of movement and rest. We drew up characters that hinted at themes of transhumanism in a world overrun by nature and technology. We had a lot of fun designing their clothes to match the lush backgrounds. Our process was a combination of 2D and 3D animation - which led to a beautiful and richly detailed product. The video loop features Pardafash’s music and can be viewed on her Instagram.
