Sangya Project is many things - an Instagram page educating the public about kink, a company making their own sex toys and perhaps most importantly a labour of love. They’re also a growing business that has to keep adapting to an ever-shifting market.
Our first project with them in 2023 involved updating their design identity. We kept the base logo system designed by Kris Chudawala and Tanvi Raj, but updated elements of type, colour and shape to reflect Sangya’s ethos of privacy. Two major design cues for the website and packaging were the idea of a permanent “dark mode” with brand and product information being understated.
The same ethos carried over to their website, which was a fun challenge to build, as the aesthetics were a secondary concern to the efficacy of the e-commerce portal (their main site of business). Though educating the public about sexual health and kink was a big part of Sangya’s mission, when it came to branding their toys and website, “if you know you know” was the central tenet.
However over the year following that initial engagement, the landscape for Indian sexual wellness and play has changed dramatically. In this new market shaped by influencer marketing and quick commerce, at-a-glance brand recognisability is more important than it used to be. So we’re now adapting the brand to reflect this. Stay tuned for more work from this partnership.
